Hector and The Man ©2007 H Segal- to the tune of Chico and the Man by Jose Feliciano ©1970's from the short-lived TV sit-com starring the late Freddie Prinz and Jack Albertson.
This was the second of my parody songs actually played on radio. It was submitted to Johnny 11/13/07, aired on WLUP 11/15/07 and again several more times that month. Although I heard this song myself on the radio, I didn't have the technology to capture the live show so I have no previous aired versions.
I thought the song was "retired" never to played on the air again. But to my surprise it aired again today, in full, at 9 AM. Johnny was
jamming on his congas, I mean JAMMING, at the end. Did I say he was
jamming? With my song from 6 months ago? That's the closest I've come to playing with a real musician since Johnny played along with "Let that Hector Play" in March 2008. I don't play with other musicians: I usually play with myself. That's right, I play with myself. You wouldn't believe the latest technology in digital recording. I am a one man orchestra, even though I am not a very good orchestra! In fact I am a jerk and a bit of a swine.
Here is the "studio" recording (final mix, slower) of "Hector and The Man" from November 2007 and the aired version from today with Johnny B playing along toward the end.
Stuck in Chicago- I left a voice mail on around 2/14/08 which was aired in various forms at least 5 times in Johnny B promos (what an honor!). It's been about 2 months since it was last aired, I think. "Well, I'm coming from New York..."
Thanks again to JB and whoever is deciding to play my creations on the radio. It is an honor, not kidding.
